An official website of the Republic of Akaido
1. OUR COMMITMENT
The Government of the Republic of Akaido is committed to ensuring that all
digital services provided by its ministries, agencies, and public bodies are
accessible to every citizen and resident, including persons with disabilities.
This commitment is enshrined in the Akaidan Digital Inclusion Act (2019) and
the Accessibility for All Citizens Regulations (2022).
2. STANDARDS
All Government of Akaido websites and digital services aim to conform to the
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, as adopted under
National Directive 44-D/2023. Where possible, we exceed these standards and
work towards AAA conformance for critical citizen-facing services.
3. FEATURES PROVIDED
Our digital services include:
- Full keyboard navigation support
- Screen reader compatibility (tested with NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver)
- Adjustable text size up to 200% without loss of content
- Sufficient colour contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for body text)
- Alternative text for all informational images
- Captions and transcripts for video content
- Content available in the three official languages: Akaidan, Seltek, and
English, as well as Akaidan Sign Language (ASL-A) video translations for
key public information
4. KNOWN LIMITATIONS
We acknowledge the following areas currently under remediation:
- Some PDF documents published before January 2023 may not be fully
accessible. We are progressively replacing these with tagged, accessible
versions. Target completion: December 2026.
- Live broadcasts of parliamentary sessions do not yet include real-time
captions in Seltek. A pilot programme is expected in Q3 2026.
- Some historical map archives contain scanned documents without text
alternatives.
5. ENFORCEMENT AND FEEDBACK
If you encounter any accessibility barrier on a Government of Akaido digital
service, you may:
- Contact the Accessibility Office at accessibility@gov.ak
- Call the National Accessibility Helpline on 800-ACCESS (800-222377)
- Submit a formal complaint via the Office of the Citizen Ombudsman
We aim to respond to accessibility queries within 5 working days.
Under Section 17 of the Digital Inclusion Act, unresolved complaints may be
referred to the National Equality and Accessibility Tribunal.
